Can we take a minute to give thanks to book bloggers: unpaid, unheralded critics who devote space to explore works in depth and cover books that aren’t heavily promoted by publishers? In mainstream press book reviews, descriptions are limited by space and literary tastes of senior editors. But bloggers are confined by no such restrictions which is why some critics review in both spheres.
I’m particularly grateful to Leslie Linsday for her generous review of The Latecomers and for her insightful Q&A which allowed me to talk about one of the main themes of the book, immigration. It seems that latecomers to this country face many of the same challenges as they did at the turn of the century. Read in full here.
